Hufflepuff Head of House
There's a lot of people who write off the Hufflepuff Head of House as strict and unpleasant man, but how many of you have ever taken the time to REALLY get to know Professor Noble like I have? To become his bestfriend and have a great sit down interview conversation with him? I'll guess not many, so enjoy the wonderful insight I've managed to provide and no matter what he says, he SO has happy muffins.
Neat we get to spend even MORE time together, eh Professor? If people didn’t believe me before, they’ll know for sure we’re best mates by now—I should start the questions—they’re great questions, I made them five minutes ago! OKAY. First! What’s your absolute FAVOURITE thing about being in charge of Hufflepuff House?
Yeah, sure...if you say so. You know you can hang out other places than the potions lab, right? Like...the astronomy tower is nice. There's a lot of things...but probably getting to see the Hufflepuffs grow and develop and achieve their goals, and maybe having some guiding hand in that.
I’ve got a ton of Puff friends—do you know Al? He kicks my butt ALL THE TIME. Do you kick butts, sir?
I know all the Hufflepuffs...although some better than others. I'll kick yours out of this office and into detention, if you don't try to stay vaguely on topic, Kodee. I thought this was an interview for the yearbook...not just some idle chit chat. Talking of which, shouldn't you be writing this down?
Do you really expect everyone to believe your this close to the kitchens but DON’T sneak midnight snacks? Wait. Do you? When? Do you need company? I go there all the time. We can grab a bite sometime.
Well, I couldn't possibly sneak in with the painting missing this year, so I don't know what you mean.
What are your thoughts on the statement: Helga Hufflepuff took the rest”? I think it sounds like the leftover house—have you tried leftover ham AND turkey in a sandwich???
Oh, it's far from that. It means Hufflepuffs are multi-faceted, coming from a variety of backgrounds...and are open-minded and welcoming to all. And I have, yes. With cranberry sauce and stuffing. Great way to use up Christmas leftovers.
How do you keep the puffers so behaved? Is it ‘cause your the potions Professor??? HAVE YOU BEEN FEEDING THEM HAPPY MUFFINS??? Can I have some? Can my girlfriend??
I...er, hang on, happy WHAT? I'd watch that mouth of yours, Kodee Chosen, given what you're insinuating. No, I don't drug them...that would contradict everything I teach about ethical potioneering. You DID listen to that module, right? ...and talking of potions, have you taken yours today? Maybe we should, er, try reconvening afterwards...so you can actually think of some proper questions?

Hufflepuff Prefects
Prefect Derfael Ashbury-Hawthorne is a broad-shoulder, blonde boy. You might know him from quidditch (he plays beater for Huff & Puff), you might know him for being Picketta’s Home Tree (a very sweet bowtruckle), or you might know him as Head Boy. Point is you definitely know him. I could close the interview right here, but for the sake of Yearbook, let’s get on with the show.
So. You’re out here looking like revenge. Sorry, not sorry as you and Chloe leave Hogwarts as the supreme couple. How’s it taste?
Revenge? Revenge for...what exactly? I’m not really a fan of the notion to be honest. Revenge that is. Though...I reckon I’m not sure what to make of that phrase either, supreme couple. Do people really call us that? Sorta wish they wouldn’t if they do. We’re just us, you know? It’s nice being with someone who you can feel most yourself with. I like that best about Chloe, her acceptance. It’s, you know, one of the many beautiful things about her.
Next set of Puffer Prefects have a lot of shenanigans to live up to. Can you give the kids some tips? Like how to earn back a prefect badge (we all make mistakes!)?
Um...listen to and trust in Professor Noble? That’s sorta all I did in that particular situation you brought up. He may have a certain sort of reputation among students, but if I had to pick any one faculty member at Hogwarts that helped shape me the most...it would be him.
This isn’t a quidditch interview, but it would be damn lame if I didn’t mention Hogwarts losing so many great quidditch players this term, yourself included, who surprised you the most on the pitch?
Reckon that would be Bel. Though at the same time I wasn’t all that surprised at all, she is a natural athlete, yeah? She came to her first tryout for Hufflepuff in her motocross gear, and that was really neat. Very her. She took to a broom super naturally too...riding the air with the same ease she does waves. It’s been ace playing with her for Hufflepuff. I’ll miss it.
Dung, you must deal with it a lot. Nasty.
Only nasty when it explodes...but I haven’t done that since my first year. Kneazle feces. I'm loads better with cleaning charms now though. Otherwise it’s manageable and had loads of benefits.
Did Picketta ever get jealous of any of your… romantic entanglements?
Oh yeah, for sure. I’m her Home Tree, you know? So...any time anyone would get close to me I think she got some flashbacks to when her first Home Tree was chopped down by wizards. Literally having your security ripped from you and then left, alone and abandoned, does things to you. She is better now though. Worst was when she full on attacked Natalie...though Natalie was really amazing with it all. Never held a grudge against her and really tried to earn Picketta’s trust - and succeeded, for the record. That was really nice.
Follow-up, does she like Chloe?
Picketta didn't at first and then she did and then she didn't again when...you know...more than friend vibes were starting to become more apparent. Everyone has to earn her trust but Chloe was up to the task. I'm not so worried anymore about Picketta lashing out at anyone. She's matured.
Hey, what are you doing later? In life? I have a boyfriend, don’t get any ideas.
….not sure what Abey has to do with this...other than he and I do have a flying session planned later in the week so I reckon I already have an idea? Uh...well...first I’m going on a global pilgrimage of sorts. Traveling around for some hands on experience with creatures through brief apprenticeships and living off the land and all. So...that will be a year or two, at least. See where things take me after that. Maybe starting university late for some proper schooling in healing so I can apply it in my future as a magizoologist.
Feels real good surviving to the end. Hogwarts is a minefield, one bad step and - goodbye leg. What are your best, and worst memories? Talking through trauma is healing.
I sorta have already done all my talking to heal. There are a lot of things that haunt my nightmares. Things I don’t want to go on record in infamy here in print. I reckon I really do not ever want to see what my boggart changes in to now.
And...um...well...some of my best memories are one I would rather keep to myself. They are, well, private and just between myself and the other person or persons. Though I can say the moment that Professor Wayland told me that I could adopt Picketta is up there...even better that Picketta accepted me to be her caretaker and Home Tree. That adoption went both ways, you know. She had to want me too.
I’m gonna miss the Prefect bathroom, are you gonna miss it?
Only the memories there, not the place itself so much.

Can I give you a makeover sometime? Free of charge.
Maybe after I’m done with all my traveling? Might be ready for an evolved change again at that time . Right now though...pretty content with things as they are and who I am. Finally.
